OMG China promotes Gloria Li to CEO of trading and accountability

SHANGHAI - Gloria Li has been promoted to CEO of Omnicom Media Group's (OMG) China's trading and accountability division, known internally as OPera.

Li (pictured) joined OMD in 2004 as associate buying director. She was most recently head of TV trading for Omnicom Media Group China and has over 10 years of TV buying experience in China. She worked with Zenithmedia Shanghai from 1997 to 2004, and over the course of her career, has worked on a variety of FMCG, retail and auto and finance accounts.

In her new role, Gloria will report to  Doug Pearce, CEO of OMG China, Ian Lee, president & COO of Omnicom Media Group, China, and work closely with Siewping Lim, CEO, OMD China and Mark Heap, CEO, PHD China, on client deliverables for both agencies under the network.

Elaine Ip, former CEO OMG China, and now advisor on new business development China, Omnicom Group says that over the past seven years the China media industry has seen unparalleled challenges in TV buying – government policy changes, media consolidation, drastic viewership shifts, and the threat of new media – making broadcast buying even tougher.

“OMG’s trading division under the leadership of Gloria responded to these challenges intelligently, turning them into opportunities for our clients,” she said.

Barry Cupples, CEO, OMG, Asia Pacific added that, “Gloria is a fantastic operator who has been pivotal in the development of our trading in China. We are delighted she has accepted the move to a wider responsibility to lead OPERA in China.”

The OPera CEO role was previuosly held by Lisa Wei also joined this CEO of Opera, who was appointed in April 2010 but resigned after four months.
