The two new government portals are data.gov.sg and mGov@SG, whereby users can get information with their smartphones anytime, anywhere.
Data.gov.sg is one-stop portal for both free and chargeable government data. It brings together more than 5,000 sets of data from 50 agencies.
mGov@SG, meanwhile, aggregates the mobile phone apps created by government agencies. It brings together more than 40 mobile websites and apps developed by government agencies, and the government is already looking at how it can develop collaborative platforms that foster the creation of new ideas.
Among other initiatives the government plans is OneInbox, an electronic mailbox service, which will be launched from the second half of next year. It will be given to every citizen and could signal the end of paper bills from town councils and government agencies.
SingPass for business, meanwhile, is a separate authentication system that will be rolled out for business users. It will help the government to differentiate between business- and
Citizen-related transactions, and is similar to systems used in Australia and Denmark.
