L’Oreal China held the digital pitch in late 2010 for its Active Cosmetics Division, which covers three skincare brands — Vichy, La Roche-Posay and SkinCeuticals.

The agency is still in discussion with the client over the contract. A source close to the account said: "This long-term assignment will be pioneering for the cosmetic industry. it marks a brand new digital platform to boost the distributions and scale for these brands, particularly in e-commerce."

McCann Worldgroup holds the L’Oreal Paris and Maybelline accounts in China, though the client also works with a number of agencies including Nurun, Digitas and other local agencies on a project basis.

Reported in March, L'Oreal launched a regional media review in Southeast Asia.
