Microsoft appoints Mark Britt to head consumer and online division in Asia-Pacific

SINGAPORE —Microsoft Corp has appointed Mark Britt as general manager for its consumer and online (C&O) group in Asia-Pacific.

According to a statement, Britt's role is to drive strategies for Windows, Windows Live, MSN, Bing and Windows Phone in Southeast Asia, Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

He will also oversee Microsoft Advertising, working in close co-operation with a broad network of retail and online partners, advertisers, and publishers.

Britt joined Microsoft in 2007 as regional director for strategy and business development for C&O in the Greater Asia-Pacific region.

During this time, he created the first comprehensive consumer strategy and operating plan for Microsoft's consumer business in Asia and also led long term transformational investment strategies in China, India and Korea.

Prior to Microsoft, he was chief financial officer with ninemsn, Microsoft's Australian interactive media joint venture with Publishing and Broadcasting Limited (PBL).
