MEC's Lim moves to MTV Southeast Asia

SINGAPORE - MEC Singapore's outgoing managing director Lim Yew Nee (pictured) is to be reunited with former MTV colleague Toby Hayward in the sales department at CNBC Asia.

MEC's Lim moves to MTV Southeast Asia
Lim, who is on leave, finished at MEC last month and joins CNBC Asia on 5 May as director of advertising sales for Southeast Asia .

He will report to former MTV sales chief Hayward, who joined CNBC last August as SVP, advertising sales, Asia-Pacific.

Hayward replaced Adrian New, who left for a job running World Sport Group’s sales department.
Lim’s brief is to provide integrated advertising solutions for CNBC clients.

This will involve selling programme sponsorships, branded content, mobile and on-ground events. His role also has a media research element.

Lim joined MEC from MTV Asia in November 2006, where he was SVP of advertising sales. At MTV, he enjoyed a solid partnership with Hayward, who was then executive VP, advertising/pan-regional group, MTV Networks in Singapore.

Prior to MTV, Lim was VP of sales at Time magazine Asia, and also had a spell in the sales department at MediaCorp title 8 Days.

MEC has yet to appoint a successor to Lim, who replaced former MD Soonthorn Areerak.

Joost Dop, chief executive of MEC Asia-Pacific, explained: “In the 18 months that Yew Nee has been with MEC Singapore the agency has gone from strength to strength, winning key local accounts (Singapore Grand Prix, Singapore Sports Council, National Council on Problem Gambling) and gaining recognition in award shows for innovation.”
