M1 appoints Kooi CEO

SINGAPORE - Singapore's third largest telco MobileOne (M1) has re-designated its current CFO Karen Kooi Lee Wah (pictured) to the role of CEO, after an extensive internal and external search.

M1 appoints Kooi CEO
Kooi, who was the acting CEO since February 2009 will replace Neil Montefiore who left the company in the first week of February to pursue “personal interests”.

Her appointment as CEO as well as Director of M1 will take effect from tomorrow. The appointment of a new CFO will be announced at a later date.

Kooi joined M1 as CFO in August 1995 and was a key member of the senior management team responsible for the planning, development and launch of M1’s commercial operations.

Teo Soon Hoe, chairman of M1, said: “She has been an outstanding CFO for the company, and was intimately involved in several strategic decisions for the company. With her capabilities,

drive and proven track record and the strong support of her management team and staff, the Board is confident that she will be able to lead M1 to the next phase of growth.”
