The agency already handles the Carrefour business in Taiwan.
Publicis Groupe was appointed as Carrefour’s global partner for its US$1 billion account earlier this year. The advertising group was handed the account without a pitch.
In a statement released to Media, Jarek Ziebinski, Asia-Pacific CEO of Leo Burnett, said: “Leo Burnett Asia-Pacific has won the Carrefour account in Indonesia, Malaysia, India and Singapore, as part of Publicis Groupe's global win earlier this year. Together with the Carrefour business we already have in Taiwan, the win has further strengthened our solid profile on retail business, which is a key area that we plan to focus on as part of our growth strategy.”
At the time of winning the account, reports had suggested Publicis Groupe would create a dedicated ad-hoc structure devoted to the Carrefour business. This structure, independent from all the networks of Publicis and based in France, is believed to be working with different operations worldwide.
In February Carrefour called a creative review within Publicis Groupe in China.
Carrefour is the world's largest retailer after Wal-Mart.
