Filefix is a relatively young agency, having been established in 2007, but has grown quickly, building a significant stable of 'blue chip' domestic clients, including Japan Airlines, Panasonic, and Casio.

Nick Walters, CEO of Aegis Media, Asia Pacific, says the integration will take place with its own digital arm Isobar, which has already worked with Filefix in Japan.

"They're not new to us," he told Campaign. "We'll be building on what they've already achieved."

Walters says Aegis was originally drawn to Filefix because of its high standards and creativity. "The quality of (their) product is high," he said. "There's a lot for us to leverage on to and take that into other parts of the world."

He also points to the value for both organisations in the domestic Japanese market. "Japan is the most digitally advanced market in the world and this acquisition puts Isobar at the forefront of developments in the market, and across the region. In addition to increasing our presence in Japan this will further enhance the global agency's leadership position."

Takahiro Uchinaga, CEO of Filefix, said the union was an exciting proposition for both parties. "Isobar gives us the opportunity to be a part of the world’s best digital network, working with clients to bring them best in class technology and thinking, helping them adapt to the converged world,” he said.
