GroupM recently moved one of its best digital talents, Aryeh Sternberg, to Jakarta to help develop digital potential in Indonesia, as well as having invested in new leadership at Mediacom and strengthened the Mindshare leadership team.

Patterson says the group is now actively seeking two other senior people to complete the team.

"We have a large and strong business in Indonesia and a great track record of growth. Our ambitions and sights, as are our clients, are set very high there though and this will require additional investment to support our clients, our team and our GroupM CEO Ranjana Singh and her agency leaders," said Patterson.

Patterson also explained a new position of GroupM COO will be created and the selected candidate will work closely with Singh and all the parts of the business as it plans the next few years’ developments and growth.

"We are looking for a very high calibre individual for this role who may come from a client, agency or vendor background," said Patterson. "The key is the person, their desire for change and challenge and their attitude and style. We are also on the hunt for a new breed of trading leader to work closely with the local and regional trading and buying teams to ensure effective delivery and value for our clients and to work with media owners closely and collaboratively on new trading models."

He added that the network is looking both within Indonesia and outside for talent, “I think those with foresight and ambition will work out that having Indonesia on your resume will stand one in very good stead in the future. Indonesia is a remarkable country with a vibrant population in full warp speed growth mode. It will be a great ride for the right people who want to be part of it,” he said.
