Google launches creative awards in Singapore

SINGAPORE - Google has launched its first creative awards competition in Singapore to spur advertising agencies to utilise its products in their creative executions.

Campaigns for the Singapore Creative08 Award must feature at least one Google product or technology such as Google Earth, Google Maps, iGoogle Gadgets, OpenSocial and YouTube.

Google will also provide assistance to participants through brainstorming sessions and link-ups with developers who can help to execute the concepts.

Yahoo recently concluded its Yahoo Mobile Developer Awards as well - a competition for students in higher education in Singapore to build the best mobile widgets.

The competition was designed to reinforce the web giant’s open technology strategy in the region and creates opportunities for younger developers to build innovative content on mobile phones that will in turn be used by commercial firms.
