Samsung to unveil 5.3in Q Tab phone
Following in the footsteps of the Dell Streak, Samsung is rumoured to be unveiling a 5.3in smartphone-tablet hybrid device at this year's IFA trade show in early September. According to Yahoo Korea, the Samsung Q "Tabphone" will offer 3G support, though it's not clear whether voice calls are on the cards. Sony plans new Reader to battle Amazon kindle
Sony has confirmed it will release an updated Sony Reader in August – a month before its eagerly anticipated S1 and S2 tablets hit the techosphere. The hardware and software upgrade to their current digital book reader will be a bid to stem the onslaught of Amazon’s dominating Kindle which has successfully invaded the hands of thousands of bookworms. No specs, photos or any other solid pieces of info on the new ereader have been revealed, but we’ll keep a bookmark on this snippet of news and get back to you when we find out more.
Nokia Windows Phone 7 Sea Ray video leaked
Anticipation for Nokia’s first Windows Phone 7 Mango handset – codenamed Sea Ray – is at an all-time high today as a rushed hands-on video of the device captured on a Chinese factory floor has been making its rounds. Although the video isn’t a feature-length affair, it’s long enough to display an N9-like phone (with the added bonus of a shutter button), which rather nippily boots in to Microsoft’s OS. Asda selling 8in tablet for £99
Asda is selling the cheapest tablet we’ve seen. The £99 Arnova 8 is an 8-inch Wi-Fi model that comes with 4GB memory and a micro SDHC expansion slot, and – most impressively – a huge 25-hour battery life. That’s probably due to the lack of processing power required to keep the dated Android 2.1 Éclair OS ticking over. You’ll still be able to watch video, read ebooks, play music and enjoy the internet – just all at a sensible pace.
