Frisian Flag appoints UM for $10 million brief in Indonesia

JAKARTA - Frisian Flag, Indonesia's largest dairy brand, has appointed Universal McCann to handle its US$10 million media planning and buying business in the country following a competitive pitch against Carat and 11-year incumbent Maxus.

UM will oversee five brands under the Frisian Flag portfolio including the Frisian Flag product in liquid and powdered forms, Frisian Flag 123-456 for the children’s market, Yes! for the youth market, Ovaltine and Omela, which is aimed at professionals. The Indonesian firm currently counts Nestlé and Danone/Numico as its closest competitors.

UM Jakarta business director Diena Soeroso said the agency was chosen for its deep understanding of consumers, turning insights into strategy and creative media implementation.

The Frisian Flag win caps a strong few weeks for UM in the region, having won Telekom Malaysia and Dutch Lady in Malaysia recently.
