An announcement issued by Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG) noted that Chairat’s new role as managing director of MediaVest in Thailand will see him charged with managing the operations and development of a 15-person business unit.

The Thai national will further lead a number of key accounts in MediaVest Thailand, including Heineken.

The agency saw incremental growth in 2011, with major new business acquisitions like Thai Oil, Nong Pho, Inbisco and Krungsri Bank in January this year.

“Somyot’s track record and clout in the industry in Thailand is unrivalled,” said Atipol Ithivatana, CEO of Starcom MediaVest Group Thailand. “He will bring to SMG a wealth of experience, and more importantly, the leadership and guidance that MediaVest and the team there needs for the next stage of its development.”

With more than 20 years of experience in advertising and media communications, Chairat has previously worked at Publicis Thailand, McCann Worldgroup Indonesia and Universal McCann Thailand.

He has worked across disciplines including creative, media, retail, planning and research as well as digital, with international and local brands in multiple markets such as Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.

“From my time in the industry, I’ve had many opportunities to come across SMG and what its agency brands represent,” Chairat said. "I’m delighted to be leading the charge, and am confident that MediaVest Thailand will excel and expand further.”
