Daya Maha Berkarya and DDB Worldwide split in Indonesia

JAKARTA - Daya Maha Berkarya and DDB Worldwide have mutually agreed to part after nine years of partnership.

Both parties will not be renewing their trade license agreement and associate agreement expiring next Monday (24 October). Daya Maha Berkarya has three brands, namely Advis, Brainstorm and Beyond, while DDB Worldwide is part of Omnicom Group.

In a joint statement, Brian Estes, spokesperson for PT Daya Maha Berkarya and Karen See, spokesperson for DDB Worldwide, said, “After nine years of our affiliation, we have agreed to part ways so as to pursue our respective business directions. We’ve had a great run and now it’s time to move on.”

It is understood that both are seeking new joint-venture partners.

DDB Worldwide has indicated its plan to have a continued presence in Indonesia.

PT Daya Maha Berkarya's Estes did not respond to Campaign's further queries on the matter.

Another agency currently looking at entering Indonesia is understood to be Iris Worldwide.Luke Nathans, regional development director, Asia Pacific confirmed that they consider indonesia a key strategic market for the network and its clients in Asia. "We are currently looking at a few opportunities, however we have no immediate plan to enter the market."

Late last week saw Y&R open sister boutique agency The Campaign Palace in Indonesia, making it that agency's first market outside of Australia and first in its plane to expand into Asia.
