The second wave of D&AD awards for 2020, announced overnight, yielded four yellow pencil winners in APAC. FCB India won two for creating a traffic signal that punished drivers for impatient honking by making them wait even longer for a green light. TBWA New Zealand won one for an animal figure designed to warn New Zealanders about cold and excessively humid conditions in their homes (see "Meet Mr Humfreez, a deceptively high-tech ram"). The fourth yellow pencil went to Japan's Tanseisha for a re-design of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum.

Overall, APAC work won 60 pencils (four yellow, 16 graphite and 40 wood), from a global total of 371 pencils (48 yellow, 91 graphite and 232 wood).

Japan led the way in terms of total pencil count, with 18, followed by New Zealand (11), Australia (8), India (6), China (6), Thailand (5), Hong Kong (3), Singapore (2) and Indonesia (1).

The organisation announced the winners of the Impact, Side Hustle, Next and Craft categories a week ago. Announcements in further categores are scheduled for July and September.
