The video shows the flight attendants dancing in the A-320 cabin while demonstrating the use of life jackets, oxygen masks and safety belts.

A passenger on the one-hour flight from Manila to southern Butuan province captured the safety demo dance and uploaded it on YouTube. At the end of the show, the passengers, albeit surprised, applaud graciously.

In a company statement, Cebu Pacific vice-president for marketing Candice Iyog said, "People hardly pay attention to the safety demo on the ground. We'd like to spread the culture of fun and safety.”

She added, “The airline was very thrilled with the outcome.

The video, which has become a huge hit across the world, has however not been received well by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAAP) of the Philippines.

The CAAP believes that the stunt was a promotional and marketing gimmick that has violated international safety standards. It has since initiated an investigation.

On the other hand, Cebu Pacific has stated that it will consider the safety demo dances on more selected flights.

The video was also picked up by CNN, Time Magazine, The New York Times, The Daily Mail and even PerezHilton.com, a Hollywood celebrity gossip website.
