SINGAPORE - Burda Singapore, a subsidiary of German media conglomerate Hubert Burda Media, has formally acquired publishing company CR Media.

CR Media is best known locally as the publisher of luxury lifestyle magazine Prestige, and men’s magazine August Man.

Localised licensed versions of Prestige are also published in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong. August Man in Singapore and Malaysia is targeted at affluent, professional males aged 25 to 45 with an annual income of US$67,000 or more.

CR Media began talks with Burda sometime ago, after being approached by other international media companies. "We felt that Hubert Burda Media, as a very successful German media company with a proven success record in Asia, would be the perfect home for our titles in the future,” said Jane Leong, founder and owner of the publisher.

Peter Kennedy, regional managing director of Burda Asia, announced, "This is the first acquisition we have made in Singapore, a very important regional media hub; and we hope to acquire additional businesses in the magazine and digital space”.

Fabrizio D’Angelo, international managing director at Hubert Burda Media, revealed that the company is intending to publish CR Media's magazine titles in Europe and other international markets.
