BBH promotes China leaders, hires creative, planning heads

The agency's CEO and MD move up, while a former BBDO creative joins as CCO and a new head of planning enters from McCann Healthcare.

BBH China has promoted Arto Hampartsoumian from CEO to executive chairman and Christine Ng from MD to CEO, while hiring Arthur Tsang as chief creative officer and Tim Browne as head of planning.

Hampartsoumian and Ng founded and have led the Shanghai agency for 12 years. 

Tsang was most recently CCO of BBDO Beijing and ECD of BBDO South China and BBDO Guangzhou. In his 15-year career in China he has worked with clients including Dove, Wrigley, Mars, Mercedes-Benz, Coca Cola, Mengniu and Unilever.

Browne was most recently head of planning at McCann Healthcare London. Before that, he worked at JWT London and EURO RSCG Worldwide, and has served brands including Dulux, Nestle Rowntree, BMW and Reckitt Benckiser.

As executive chairman, Hampartsoumian will "provide overview and council to the management team in the strategic development of the agencies’ evolved multiple offerings as well as continuing to nurture key client relationships", according to the company. Ng will drive the growth of the existing business and lead the development of collaborations with new partners, particularly in the areas of entertainment and IP, BBH said.

“Arthur and Tim’s talent and capability, coupled with our growing range of strategic and creative offerings signals a very exciting time ahead,” Hampartsoumian said in a release.

Added Neil Munn, group CEO, “These leadership changes provide us with the right balance of continuity and freshness as we set about this next phase of business evolution in China. ...We are now well set up to achieve our ambition for growth and creative excellence across a broader range of capabilities in this very exciting market."
