The agency says this is part of a strategic move to strengthen its marketing and field activation services.

In this role, Voon will report directly to Wong Fatt Weng, managing director of Bates 141 Malaysia. Previously, he worked at RHB Bank, Rapp Malaysia and Demo Power and has over 10 years of experience under his belt working with clients such as Nestle, Volkswagen, Microsoft and Taylor's College.

His broad experience in ATL advertising and BTL activation includes retail marketing, customer relationship management, consumer promotion, events and marketing services.

In his most recent stint, he was assistant VP of marketing for Easy by RHB Bank where he gained insight into integrated marketing know-how on the client side of the business. Here, Voon helped build the 'Easy by RHB' brand for the bank's pioneering retail banking concept, with the advertising campaign winning an Effie silver award.

Prior to this, Voon worked at Rapp Malaysia where he rose to the position of account director and spent seven years in planning and implementation of integrated marketing communications strategies. He started out in activation with Demo Power Malaysia, an in-store media company where he delivered numerous on-ground consumer engagement projects for Nestle, New Zealand Milk, Faber-Castell and Unicharm.

"We have huge growth ambitions for our activation unit. With growing success in the past three years with new clients and new businesses, we are now seeking to build a stronger model in our go-to-market activation where we already have the talent, experience, skills and capabilities to help our clients win in the fast growing trade and retail channels," explained Wong.
