According to a report by the New York Times, Baidu receives as many as 10 million English searches a day. Kaiser Kuo, director of Baidu's international media relations told the New York Times that Baidu hasn't been able to "do a good job" of answering English queries.
The service is expected to start later this year.
In an earlier interview with Campaign, Baidu mentioned that its international expansion plans primarily targeted non-English speaking nations.
This partnership is expected to erode Google's presence in China. Despite pulling out of the country, Google still retains about 19 per cent share in China's search engine market according to research firm, Analysys. Baidu dominates with 75.8 per cent share, while Microsoft's Bing only has 1 per cent.
