Hong told Campaign Asia-Pacific that his new company will make an announcement later this week, adding that he will remain in the entertainment industry in Hong Kong.
SCEH has not named a replacement, according to a spokesperson.
Hong joined the company in 1998, starting from a junior role as promotion officer in the marketing department. He had a successful run as a general manager before assuming responsibility as the company's first Chinese director. He led the marketing team in launching key products including the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.
