Café de Coral calls first creative pitch after Bates ends decade-long relationship

HONG KONG - Leading Chinese fast-food restaurant chain Café de Coral (大家樂) has called a creative pitch after Bates CHI announced it would end a decade-long relationship with the client.

A source close to the client told Campaign Asia-Pacific that four agencies, including both 4A and independent agencies, were invited to the pitch presentations, which concluded last week, and that the result will be out soon.

Bates CHI's PR spokersperson sent a statement confirming that the agency will conclude its Cafe De Coral partnership. "It is our privilege to have a solid and fruitful partnership with our CDC client for over a decade, we have shared the dreams and memories through good and challenging times,” the statement said. “With the new management and brand requirements in place, we trust it is of best interest for both the client and the agency to turn to a new page."

The agency added that the partnership has not formally ended yet. There is still no confirmation on the date for the formal end of the partnership.

A souce added that a media pitch may follow the creative pitch.

Café de Coral, under Café de Coral Group, hasmore than 150 fast-food restaurants in Hong Kong. Its well-known slogan is 'See you again at Cafe de Coral!' ("大家樂見!").
