VGIC in Beijing handles VW China's imported car brands, including Volkswagen, Bentley, Lamborghini, SEAT and Škoda.

Wu will replace VWG's marketing director Melissa Bell, who will take up another role at VW Asia and is expected to move to Singapore. Wu was previously a marketing director at SEAT.

Ricky Tay moved to Beijing this month to take up the position of group managing director at VGIC, and is overseeing total business of various Volkswagen brands.

Tay is a long-serving senior executive in Volkswagen Group and has worked for the company in China and Singapore, before relocating again to China. He was MD at VWG in Malaysia. He has been in the car industry since the late 1970s and has also worked for Peugeot, Fiat and Alfa Romeo.

Meanwhile, German national Maik Stephan, who was appointed general manager of VGIC only last year, according to reports in Chinese media last April, has left to take up a new role as head of training and network development in VW China. Previously, Stephan was MD of VWG sales at Volkswagen India since 2009.

Also reported last April, Paul Hu, executive vice-president of Land Rover China, left the company to return to Volkswagen as managing director of VGIC.
