Aussie sports betting app 'trolls' Tour de France cyclists

Cheeky stunt for Sportsbet follows an ad that presented infamous sprinter Ben Johnson as an expert in performance-enhancement.

Australian betting app Sportsbet, with creative agency BMF, painted the app's slogan, ‘Putting the ‘Roid in Android’ onto the actual route of Stage 18 of the just concluded Tour de France. The video above shows eventual winner Chris Froome and the rest of the peloton failing to notice the trollish stunt.

In this ad from May, the brand employed disgraced sprinter Ben Johnson (who won the 100m in 1988 and then had the medal taken away) to talk about the app, which is said to have "scientific stuff injected into its back-end".

The Tour de France stunt cleary failed to create an international incident, but Ad Nut appreciates the use of humour.
