Yahoo opens first permanent office in Vietnam

VIETNAM - Yahoo Vietnam has announced the opening of a permanent office in Ho Chi Minh City.

Yahoo opens first permanent office in Vietnam
The office is the portal's first in Southeast Asia outside of Singapore. Yahoo established as a limited company in Vietnam in November 2008.

Vu Minh Tri, general director of Yahoo Vietnam, said that the opening of a large permanent office in Ho Chi Minh City demonstrates Yahoo's long-term vision in Vietnam. "The office will facilitate our in-country activities focusing on increasing reach to Vietnamese users through its five core products: front page, blog, mail, search and mobile, as wells as effective monetisation for influencing the advertising ecosystem."

Yahoo first established its representative office in Ho Chi Minh City in 2007 and was authorised to open Yahoo Vietnam in November 2008. With 90 per cent of online users in Vietnam, Yahoo is now the most trafficked online destination among all internet brands in the country.

Yahoo recently donated funds to the Gentle Fund Organisation as part of its second annual Scooter JAM! 2009 fundraising campaign. The company invited local Saigon youngsters to show their support for Scooter JAM! 2009 and Friendship Day by asking them to go online and make a 'friendship pledge' on Yahoo! 360plus.
