She will report to Ian Rumsby, chairman of Weber Shandwick Australia.

Willcox was previously strategic counsel and director of public affairs and government relations at Hill & Knowlton Australia. There, she advised clients on matters relating to public policy, crisis and dispute resolution. She has worked extensively with defence-based clients on some of the country’s most contentious issues, and her experience has extended into detention centres and maritime issues.

Her experience has made her one of the most respected practioners in the Australian market,  Rumsby said. "“Her knowledge of issues across a range of industry sectors, coupled with an unparalleled expertise in crisis management, will significantly enhance our client service offering."

Willcox's appointment is part of a broader strategic initiative to consolidate the firm's position in the Australian market and follows a series of senior hires. In May, the firm established an office in Melbourne, appointing Simon Schweigert general manager; and in June, James Abbott joined Weber Shandwick as strategic counsel.

"Her (Willcox's) experience will complement the expansion of our work in the development and implementation of communication strategies for government departments and agencies, as well as all clients with a strong public policy interest," Rumsby said.
