The programme was developed by Veolia Environmental Services and supported by the National Environmental Agency. It was launched by Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, in Tampines on 4 June, as part of Recycling Week 2011.

Edenred designed and managed the entire online platform and loyalty marketing services.

The GRIN programme seeks to reward residents’ recycling efforts through a novel incentive-based scheme. It allows members to redeem benefits on the points earned based on the weight of their recyclables.

Targeted initially for landed properties’ residents in the Tanglin-Bukit Merah sector, the programme will be extended to the Pasir Ris-Tampines sectors by July.

Edenred’s global expertise in customer relationship management programmes for multinationals was put to good use in the creation of GRIN. It created a user-friendly online platform and targeted merchant offerings from household names like Ben & Jerry’s, Greenviron, Home-Fix, Purple Sage and Skechers.

JB Ray, country manager at Edenred Singapore, said the programme further enhances Edenred’s own strong and active corporate social responsibility across the globe.

Christina Lee, marketing manager at Veolia Environmental Services Singapore, also commented on the programme. “With GRIN, Veolia Environmental Services Singapore wants to cultivate sustainable recycling habits and raise awareness on the benefits of living an environmental-friendly lifestyle, one step at a time.”
