The five polytechnics are Nanyang Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Republic Polytechnic, Singapore Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic.

To promote interest in engineering courses among secondary school students with the idea of ‘Create New Trends! Build Cool Stuff!’, a free application named e-Bot was created with D.Ink as the technology partner.

The application is named after the Engineering Robot and can be downloaded for free from the Apple App Store and the Android Marketplace.

When a user points his/her phone camera at the poster, the Engineering Robot jumps out from an otherwise static Clear Channel poster to interact and engage with the audience.

The prelude to the campaign went up last month near youth hangouts such as Plaza Singapura and Downtown East.

A static poster campaign carrying the mobile AR component went up across a six-sheet customised network targeted near schools island-wide last Sunday (6 October).

The poster visual uses the image of a Quick Response (QR) code made up of various engineering elements along with the title 'Engineer The Next In Thing' to communicate the message that engineering can be cool and interesting as it promotes innovative creations that can make the improve the world.

Apart from the AR experience, the campaign visual doubles up as a QR code when scanned using a QR reader, directing users to visit the campaign website.
