one2free claims to be the first brand globally to do this across desktop and mobile, allowing Facebook fans to play and share games directly from their Facebook timeline and newsfeed without the traditional use of Facebook apps.
The mobile operator in Hong Kong wanted to use social content in a unique way to promote the launch of Game Box, a new on-demand gaming service for mobile subscribers.
TBWA\DAN Hong Kong decided to go back to the 1980s and pay tribute to some of the original games that led to today’s modern gaming scene. The agency created a series of bite-size games for Facebook, inspired by game classics such as Space Invaders, Snake and Frogger. More games will be added based on suggestions from one2free’s Facebook fans.
Each in-feed game will integrate some of Hong Kong’s most loved icons, such as the Star Ferry and Hong Kong’s skyline. The games are developed in both Flash and HTML5.
Joehan Martinus, director of mass marketing for one2free, commented that the series of retro games is the brand's way of reinventing the concept of gaming on Facebook. "This definitely adds a new dimension of interactivity and social sharing for our loyal Facebook fans,” said Martinus.
