In its first ever association with television programming, Mometum will be responsible for conceptualising and producing television shows for National Broadcasting Services, a government-owned television station.

The television network plans to launch a new channel for children this year, for which Momentum Thailand will be its strategic partner, said Yod Sukwiwat, managing director of Momentum Thailand.

“Right now we’re developing a couple of concepts for the channel,” Sukwiwat added.

Sukwiwat believes, the new channel, positioned on the lines of Discovery kids, has a lot of promise. “Cable TV is growing at a fast rate in Thailand,” he said.

At present, satellite television accounts for a miniscule part of media expenditure in Thailand at just under 10 per cent when compared to free-to-air television. However, of late, advertisers have been drawn to cable television as a cheaper platform than its terrestrial equivalent.
