Warburton is charged with helping the company’s Xbox division meet profitability expectations in Asia-Pacific and China.

As a former executive at Vivendi Games, Warburton helped drive the success of online games including World of WarCraft and CounterStrike.

Microsoft has additionally appointed Nelson Allen as regional director for its Xbox console and accessories unit and Joe Chang as regional director for Office and retail.

The three division heads will report to regional COO Ben Graetz, who said the appointments are integral to Microsoft’s strategy of strengthening its gaming reputation in the region.
