Maxus takes Shiseido's media account in Hong Kong from Bates141

HONG KONG - Maxus has been appointed to the media account for Japanese cosmetics giant Shiseido in Hong Kong. Incumbent Bates141 has confirmed its media contract will terminate at the end of May.

Maxus confirmed the news but declined to comment further.

A source close to the account said there was no formal pitch. The decision to shift the account came about because Bates141 and the client could not reach an agreement on the business terms in the new contract.

Bates141 started providing media services to Shiseido in 2003. The integrated agency's duties have since extended to include creative and digital to accommodate the variety of brands under Shiseido all with different marketing requirements. Most of the advertising however is created in Japan and adopted locally.

Shiseido has a vast cosmetics and skin care brand portfolio which includes popular brands like Ipsa, Ettusais, Za and the sun block skin care brand Anessa.

Last February, Japanese cosmetics line Uno, owned by Shiseido, launched an online campaign in Taiwan for its Fog Bar hair styling spray.
