Maxus names new regional chief

ASIA-PACIFIC - GroupM has ended its year-long search for a chief executive to lead media agency Maxus with the appointment of former Motorola marketer Neil Stewart (pictured).

Maxus names new regional chief
Kelly Clark, worldwide CEO of Maxus, told Media: “We took our time to find the right candidate. Neil has a unique combination of understanding the business from the client and agency perspective.”

He added that despite the economic downturn, there was an ambitious plan to grow Maxus into a credible network - one that would share a number of functions within GroupM. “It makes sense for us to consolidate volumes for trading as this can benefit our clients,” Clark noted.

Stewart, who described Maxus as “one of the best secrets within GroupM”, rejoined Motorola in October last year, as marketing head for Asia, excluding Greater China, following the disbandment of One Barrack Street, a bespoke STW Group unit that serviced the agency’s Vodafone Australia business.

His most recent departure from Motorola came after the brand laid off several regional marketers in Singapore in a bid to take drastic steps to overhaul its mobile operations.

Maxus has not had a regional head since CVL Srinivas resigned in September 2006 after just six months in the job.
