Low will report to the agency's creative director for the Asia Pacific region Grant Hunter. He will be charged with overseeing all of the agency's creative output for its China operation, including offices in Beijing and Shanghai.
He will be responsible for building Iris' creative profile in the region through the execution of integrated campaigns spanning above and below-the-line for Iris' clients, which includes Sony Ericsson.
"Barry's appointment enhances our regional creative firepower. As an agency, we're driven by the desire to produce extraordinary ideas across the APAC region," said Hunter.
Low said he is very excited to be joining Iris, an agency whose vision he shares.
"For me, coming up with creative solutions for clients is no longer just about traditional ATL advertising. It's about coming up with fresh creative solutions based on 'big' ideas and this is what Iris does," said Low. "it's still a fairly new agency in China, but already causing a stir due to its wider profile in Asia."
Low brings 25 years' experience in a range of senior creative roles at the industry's leading agencies including DDB, Ogilvy & Mather, Grey, Wunderman and Leo Burnett.
Before joining DDB China in October 2008, Low worked as senior creative director at Wunderman. Prior to that he worked at Leo Burnett, Ogilvy & Mather and Grey between 2004 and 2005.
Earlier this year, Iris announced its decision to decentralise its global management structure to grow the company in four key regions including China, Asia, Europe and America. Iris launched its first office in China in Beijing in 2009 and opened a second office in Shanghai earlier this year.
