This appointment makes her the first Latin American woman in a global leading role in the media agency industry, said IPG.

In her new role, Suarez is responsible for leading the group's operations in over 50 offices around the world for its three agencies, UM, Initiative and the newly-launched BPN. In Asia-Pacific, the markets that fall under her remit are Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Korea.

"We can't wait to see what she [Suarez] will do with this much deserved bigger platform," said Matt Seiler, Global CEO, IPG Mediabrands, who described her as a 'superstar'.

Throughout her career, Suarez has held key positions in marketing research, brand marketing, account management and new business development during her tenure at major global companies such as Omnicom Media Group, British American Tobacco, VW and Audi.
