SHANGHAI - Carat has promoted Seth Grossman (pictured), formerly communication planning director for China, to the role of managing director of Eastern China.

Grossman’s appointment fills a position that has been vacant for several months, following the departure of Wei Fun Lai. He will report to Michelle Lau, managing director of Carat China and assume responsibility for the network’s Shanghai office.

Commenting on his promotion, Grossman stated that he was “incredibly excited” by the opportunity.

“To take a strategist and put them at the head says something about the way we’re going as a company,” he said, adding that he would make every effort to ensure that the consumer-centric philosophy he had strived to implement in his previous role was further engrained into the foundations of the agency, while maintaining strong research and insight capabilities as a “differentiator”.

Grossman Joined the Aegis Group firm last year to establish the communication planning discipline and expand its insight facilities. His 14-year career has also seen stints at JWT, 141 Worldwide, Ogilvy Action, and the Diamond Trading Company.
