Grey scoops Grand Prix at SPH's Ink Awards in Singapore

SINGAPORE - Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) has announced the winners for its annual Ink Awards 2010, recognising the creative excellence in press advertising and across integrated media campaigns.

Grey Group Singapore emerged as the Grand Prix winner for their advertisement titled Teacher for Wildlife Reserves, voted unanimously by the judging panel. It also took home the gold award in the Press Single (English) category.

Ng Tian It, creative director at Lowe Worldwide, who was one of the judges said, "This is the kind of work that we as an industry would like to advocate - simple, fresh, single-minded and uncluttered. And it also brings a smile to your face."

Grey won a cash prize of SG$ 8,000 (US$ 5956) and will receive a full-page full colour ad space in one of SPH's flagship newspapers.

Other winners include &Larry for its branding campaign for Takashimaya's 16th anniversary which won top honours in the Press Campaign (English) category as well as silver in the Print Single (English) category while DDB garnered the most number of awards: gold in Print Single/ Campaign (Chinese) for their Fables is more Effective than Facts ad and three bronze awards for their Live On campaign for Health Promotion Board.

In total, the awards attracted 281 entries of which 33 were short-listed as finalists.

Leslie Fong, senior executive vice president of SPH's marketing division, said, "The entries by this year's finalists and winners are a showcase of print and advertisementes at their best. A clever idea, engaging copy and arresting visuals - what more does an advertiser need to communicate with his target audience."
