Grey adds magic to the Spikes Asia line-up

ASIA-PACIFIC - Grey Group has confirmed it will be partnering with international magician Cyril Takayama for its seminar preceding the Spikes Asia 2010 awards ceremony. The three-day festival takes place from 19 to 22 September at Suntec City in Singapore.

During the Eye on global Asians seminar, Grey Group Asia-Pacific chairman Nirvik Singh will talk to renowned international magician Cyril Takayama about how his approach to the art of magic is parallel to that of the creative industry.

Originally from America and currently based in Tokyo, Takayama is best known in Asia for his street stunts showcased on AXN Network. As the most downloaded magician on the internet, he is also recognised as the world's first 'cyber magician'.

"The worlds of creativity and magic are more similar than we might think. Cyril's refreshing connection with people has been integral to his ability to captivate and engage an international audience," says Singh. He adds that the ability to engage an audience is pivotal for success in both businesses.

Other seminars during the jam-packed three-day festival include Making a difference presented by Euro RSCG, featuring David Jones and AirAsia founder Tony Fernandes discussing how creative and business communities can effect positive change in Asia.

Catch Sir Martin Sorrell hosting the official Spikes Debate exploring the unique set of marketing problems brought on by fast economic growth in most of Asia, or sit down with TBWA to find out why it is not inappropriate to suggest that the advertising industry owes the world a massive apology.

Leo Burnett, Cheil Worldwide, Dentsu, JWT, Publicis, DraftFCB, Ogilvy and DDB are also presenting a seminar each.

The festival programme includes five workshops presented by Microsoft Advertising, Yahoo, Nokia, BBH and Trinity P3.

In addition, each of the jury presidents will deliver a president's address looking, among other things, at why some agencies are good and some are bad, how design is shaping advertising, why paid media may become redundant and the importance of craft.

Spikes Asia confirmed earlier this week that over 1,000 people from across 23 countries are attending the festival with new registrations added daily. The festival, a mere 12 days away, is the region's oldest and most prestigious awards for creative advertising.
