SINGAPORE - The DesignSingapore Council has shortlisted DDB and Ogilvy & Mather in its hunt for a marketing communications partner for this year's Singapore Design Festival.

The two agencies were narrowed down from a field of four after a tender was first called at the end of June.

This year’s festival will see the Lion City hosting the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (Icsid) World Design Congress 2009, and INDEX: Award Exhibition 2009 as its first partner city.

The festival will also present the best of design in Singapore via the President’s Design Award 2009 ceremony and exhibition among others. It is expected to draw over 100,000 people participating in more than 100 activities island-wide.

The third instalment of the festival will run in November this year under the theme ‘Design 2050: possibilities for tomorrow’.

The annual event is in line with the DesignSingapore Council’s objectives of ‘promoting Singapore’s emergent design culture to both local and international audiences’ while boosting opportunities for collaboration for the local design community.

The council is a division under the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts in Singapore.
