With the appointment, Upputuru will spearhead Dentsu Marcom's creative efforts with clients such as Honda (cars and bikes) and Sharp. He will be based in Delhi and report to Hiroshi Omata, the agency's chief operating officer.

He joins the firm from Saatchi & Saatchi where he was executive creative director and worked with brands including Harley Davidson and Ranbaxy. He returns to Dentsu after a previous stint back in 2009.

With over 15 years' experience under his belt, Upputuru has worked with Trikaya Grey (now Grey Worldwide), TBWA Anthem (now TBWA India), Ushak Kaal and Ogilvy & Mather India. Over the years, he developed campaigns for Afghan Telecom, the Hutch Delhi Marathon, Sprite, Kinley, KFC, Fanta, Grasim Suitings, WWF and Dabur.

"I am delighted to have Upputuru back as part of Dentsu Marcom," said Omata on the appointment. "Given the depth and width of his brand building experience, we see him as an indispensable component in our game plan of bringing "The Dentsu Way" to India."

Upputuru noted: "The headquarters in Tokyo created quite an impression on my mind when I visited in my earlier stint. I had enjoyed working on Honda and the visit to the museum of Soichiro Honda was amazing. My talks with the lead team at Dentsu Marcom have been wonderful and we are looking ahead at the future."
