May will be leading the development of Carat’s strategic resources and products to help drive growth and enhance business value for clients, according to the company.

He joins Carat from ADV Group in Russia, where he was chief strategy officer as well as on its board of directors. Previously he held senior management positions at Mindshare, PHD and Ogilvy.

His almost 25 years of experience is spilt between media and advertising in the UK and a long stint in the developing world (Latam, Russia and Asia).

For the past 13 years, he learnt to "delicately understand and interpret communications in countries undergoing massive economic, political and cultural challenges", during which seismic shifts were primarily driven by digital. Such a background will bring Carat's value proposition to new heights, said Adil Zaim, CEO of Carat China.
