Butcher heads to UK to take bigger role in Time titles

HONG KONG: Andrew Butcher - the Asia-Pacific president of Time and

Fortune - has been promoted to the post of international publisher and

executive vice-president of the two publications.

The new role, based in London, takes effect immediately.

Butcher, who has been with the Time group since 1994, will be working

alongside chief financial officer Richard Evans and global marketing

officer Phil Whitney on international strategic issues.

"One of the initial jobs will be to align the international sales team

into a global force. Fortune is about there, but Time is managed from

each region. But we must strike a balance; it'll be a global set-up with

local implementation," said Butcher.

Meanwhile, Peter Brack, the president of the now-defunct Asiaweek

magazine, has been appointed senior vice-president of ad sales at Time

and Fortune Asia.
