BALI - In what some media have claimed as a world first, marketing author and speaker Philip Kotler and chairman of Markplus Hermawan Kartajaya, have launched a dedicated museum of marketing in Ubud on the Indonesian island of Bali.

Located within the Muzium Puri Lukisan (Puri Art Museum), the Museum of Marketing 3.0 was launched on 27 May, Kotler's 80th birthday. The name is derived from a book co-authored by Kotler, Kartajaya and Iwan Setiawan titled Marketing 3.0: From Products to Customers to the Human Spirit published in May 2010.

"Marketing 3.0 is about a spiritual approach to marketing," the museum's website says, "Ubud is Bali 3.0 since many tourists who visit Ubud end up staying to immerse themselves deeper into the spiritualism of Bali. Finally, it is necessary to have a venue that would record the 'good and right marketing' approaches by select marketers and inspire others to follow suit".

Museum features include a section on the evolution of marketing, spanning the last 60 years, a 'corporation 3.0 wall of fame' which displays global corporations that embed 'legendendary human spirit practices' in their business models, and a 'marketer 3.0 wall of fame'.
