Cundy joins from DDB Europe where he steered the McDonald's business across 24 markets affiliated with the agency in Europe.

Beacon Communications president Nicolas Menat confirmed Cundy's mission in charge of the team is to combine his expertise in planning working with global networks with his understanding of Japanese consumers as he spent the majority of his working life in Tokyo.

Originally from the UK, Cundy started out working on the Lexus brand for a small Toyota subsidiary. He moved on to Hakuhodo Lintas where he remained for more than three years working on Nestle, Unilever, GM and Johnson & Johnson brands.

He joined DDB Japan in 2004 in charge of the VW and Philips accounts and became general manager two years later in 2006.

Cundy said he is delighted to return to Japan with Beacon. "While many agencies claim to offer the best of east and west in Japan I believe that we are uniquely positioned to be able deliver this," he added.
