Sources close to the news said that this is a regular pitch review process. “The client would like to finalise the pitch by the end of August and have the pitch results in by Q4.”

AIA does not yet have an official creative agency partner, however Bravo Asia has been working on its creative work on a per project basis for the Hong Kong business for the past two years.

According to AIA's company statement, AIA Hong Kong continued to deliver strong growth thanks to new business. The company grew by 28 per cent to US$512 million compared with the first half of 2011.

Reported in April, TBWA has become AIA's agency of record in mainland China after winning a competitive pitch against two other 4A agencies. There is no incumbent.

In October last year, TBWA Hong Kong was appointed by AIA Group as its regional creative agency to develop regional campaign initiatives to drive brand growth across Asia, displacing incumbent Leo Burnett.

Meanwhile, reported last week, Cheil Worldwide acquired Bravo Asia, which has offices in Shanghai and Hong Kong, and will put that agency's founder, exDDB Asia chairman Aaron Lau, in charge of its entire 15-office China operation.
