Kuah replaces Aegis Media CEO Anupriya Acharya and Carat Singapore COO Gan Boon Guan, whose departure was announced yesterday.

CEO Aegis Media Asia Pacific Nick Waters told Campaign that only one appointment will be made to replace Acharya and Gan, “We don’t need two people for one job,” he said.

He said the agency “needs to be taken to the next level. (Singapore’s) importance as a regional centre means we need to further strengthen our international client management capabilities.”

Waters said that Kuah has extensive experience managing major multinational clients across the Asia Pacific region.  “This experience will be invaluable as we build on our current position,” he said.

Asked whether he felt Aegis Singapore had been too focused on local business, Waters said that good progress has been made in Singapore during the last two years.

“The team has done a good job, building our capabilities and progressing the business very well. I’d like to thank Anupriya and Gan for their invaluable contribution,” he said, adding that the time is right for a change of direction. “We need to be competing at an international level,’ he said.

Kuah’s career in the industry spans 18 years.  Prior to joining Aegis she co-founded Litmus Asia, a strategic marketing planning company focused on collaborating with clients to enhance the success rate of new-to-market initiatives such as new product/service launches and developing propositions for new market segments.

Before this she spent 10 years with GroupM APAC, first as business director of Mindshare Singapore, moving to general manager of Maxus Singapore.  Then she was appointed director - business development of Mediacom APAC where she spent 4 years.  Whilst in this position she managed Nokia and the business teams in 10 countries and Dell Enterprise, SME and Consumer across 12 countries, generating new revenue streams in marketing analytics, research and strategic planning consultancy projects.

She also sits on the Advisory Committee and is a guest lecturer in business management at the Ngee Ann Polytechnic School of Film and Media Studies in Singapore.
