Facebook appoints Anand Tilak as country manager for Indonesia

SINGAPORE - Social networking site Facebook has hired Google hand Anand Tilak as country manager for Indonesia, the company told Campaign Asia-Pacific.

"Yes we confirm that Anand Tilak will join Facebook to lead and focus on providing marketing solutions to help our top businesses and agencies in Indonesia be successful on Facebook,” a spokesperson for the company said.

Tilak will be based in Singapore. He was previously Google’s regional manager for its agency business and sales development in Southeast Asia. According to Tilak's LinkedIn page, he has also worked with Yahoo in Southeast Asia and Ogilvy in India.

With more than 64 million users, Indonesia is amongst Facebook’s top countries in the world, however, the company is yet to open an office there.

Earlier this year, Facebook appointed Daud I. Aditirto, a former business development director for Opera, to lead growth in Indonesia. So far, Komli Media has been handling Facebook’s business in Indonesia, focusing on ad sales in the country.
