Earth Hour this year grows beyond the hour, to Earth Hour +. The idea is to seek action not just for one hour, but a commitment to ongoing change, encouraging people to adopt climate-friendly actions, big or small, in their everyday life. An online platform Earthhour.org/beyondthehour allows individuals, governments and organisations to share their actions, showcase and inspire commitments to protect the planet.

Leo Burnett Chicago, who is behind the global creative, will be running its campaign across print, OOH, a website, mobile, radio, social media and TV. Earth Hour will also have its own digital widget.

Comprising of a strong social media presence, the campaign will include a profile page application and a widget on Facebook, Foursquare, Groupon, and a G Team sponsorship three days prior to Earth Hour on 26 March at 8.30pm.

The 30- and 60 second TVCs will roll out globally with some markets undertaking local adaptations.

Bob Raidt, executive vice-president of Leo Burnett, said, "It's difficult to imagine anything more important that environmental sustainability.  As a partner in the creation of Earth Hour since day one, Leo Burnett is very proud of the role we continue to play in building participation through our online and offline creative efforts.
