Ogilvy's Tom Wan moves on to IPG Mediabrands China

SHANGHAI - IPG Mediabrands has appointed Ogilvy & Mather Group’s Tom Wan as CEO of its China operations.

Wan will replace Cary Huang, who has been with IPG Mediabrands since June 2011. Huang served as CEO of Mediabrands China for two years nine months and as CEO of UM China for almost two years.

Wan will join the network in January and will report to Henry Tajer, who was apppointed global CEO in March.

Wan began his career at McCann Erickson New York, before he went on to Saatchi & Saatchi, managing the Procter & Gamble account. Most recently, he held a number of regional as well as China leadership roles at Ogilvy & Mather Group, starting in January 2004. There he oversaw clients including Coca-Cola, Philips, Adidas and Diageo. His most recent role was a dual one, as MD of global brand management for Ogilvy China and managing partner of global digital marketing for WPP's Team Huawei.

Tajer thanked Huang for his "hugely positive impact" and bringing the network's specialist services together under one roof. 

Ogilvy did not respond to a request for comment in time for publication.
