The win comes after a two-round pitch in late June and early August. The pitch also included ZenithOptimedia and Mindshare Shanghai.
Mindshare Hong Kong was the incumbent media agency for the brand in China, Lindt does not have a creative agency in China but globally partners with Leo Burnett.
Able Lim, marketing manager of Lindt Greater China said, “We are very happy to have Vizeum as our media agency in China. We really appreciate the professional and strategic suggestions from everyone on the Vizeum team.”
Vivien Zhang, business director of Vizeum Beijing who will be working on this account, said Lindt was a relatively new brand, having entered the China market two to three years ago and started investing in advertising in China just last year.
The brands of the Lindt family including Swiss Classic, Lindor Truffle, Excellence and Swiss Tradition Pralinés are available in China with sales channels mainly in supermarkets. Lindt faces competition with other international chocolate brands like Ferrero Rocher, Dove and Hershey’s.
The brand has recently signed on the world tennis champion Roger Federer as brand ambassador.
Chocolate was once seen as a luxury in China, and consumption is still much lower than in the West but it is growing fast. China opened its first chocolate theme park 'World Chocolate Wonderland' in Beijing in January 2010 - home to the world's biggest chocolate model of the Great Wall of China.
Earlier this year, Vizeum Beijing also won Korean food giant Orion Confectionery's media account.
